Ricoh/Lanier Production Print Offers Benchmark Media Handling, Outstanding Productivity, and Color Consistency
Buyers Laboratory LLC (BLI), the leading independent authority in the document imaging industry, announced its annual PRO awards, which acknowledge the best-in-class devices in BLI’s production field tests. This year Ricoh’s Pro™ C7110 Series and Pro™ C9110 delivered the winning performances.
Having generated tens of millions of impressions on production devices from the leading vendors over several years, BLI’s production tests reveal the attributes that distinguish the most outstanding performers in a challenging evaluation covering productivity, image quality, media handling, ease of use, and more. The only models to earn BLI’s highest (5-star) rating for media handling since BLI began its production test program a number of years ago, Ricoh’s two PRO award winners have exceptionally high maximum input and output paper capacities, and duplex support for heavy media—up to 350 gsm for the Pro™ C7110 Series and 400 gsm for the Pro™ C9110 Series. In addition, both offer a class-leading array of inline finishing options including a perfect binder, full-bleed square-edge booklet maker, and inline ring bindery.
These models also stand out for their productivity and color consistency, earning BLI’s 5-star rating for these important categories as well. Both also feature excellent fine detail reproduction in full-color output, especially in light contrast areas, and very good depth of field.
Regarding the 90-ppm Ricoh Pro™ C7110 Series, winner of the PRO award in the light- to mid-volume color production category, David Sweetnam, director of BLI’s research and lab services for EMEA/Asia observed: “The fifth imaging station on the X models in this series is a real game changer, clearly differentiating them from other cut-sheet devices in their class, allowing for a range of creative output options not possible with four-color alternatives.” Sweetnam added, “In addition, this series’ very high ratings across the board in key categories including productivity, image quality, and media handling make the Ricoh Pro™ C7110 Series an ideal fit in low- to mid-volume production environments.” The Pro™ C7110SX was tested with the Fiery E-43A controller.
Winner of the 2016 PRO award in the mid-to high-volume color production category, the 130-ppm Ricoh Pro™ C9110, which was tested with the Fiery E-83 controller, surpassed its competitors in the majority of its speed tests. Noting that the Ricoh Pro™ C9110 is the company’s fastest cut-sheet production device to date, Sweetnam said that its ability to maintain its 130-ppm rated speed up to its impressive maximum media weight of 400gsm “leaves clear blue sky between this model and its closest rivals and brings it into new territory where it can now compete for some workflows against significantly higher priced production devices.”
“Ricoh Pro™ C9110 and C7110 users overwhelmingly tell us that these exceptional printers enable them to reach new levels of creativity, quality, and productivity for their customers,” said John Fulena, vice president, Production Printing Business Group, Ricoh Americas Corporation. “We’re proud to be the first production print vendor to ever receive the five-star rating from Buyers Laboratory.”
