Broward Children Center – Improving the Lives of Children with Disabilities
Posted December 2016
Broward Children Center held their 13th Annual Miles for Smiles Walk & Festival on November 5, 2017. The event’s goal is to raise funds for the programs and services provided by Broward Children’s Center, which serves more than 1,200 children with disabilities annually. This year the event raised over $60,000!
The Miles for Smiles Event provides a once a year opportunity to nurture and protect some of the most medically fragile children in the nation by funding the highly-specialized medical care Broward Children’s Center delivers. This care saves lives and improves the health and happiness of thousands of children. For over 40 years, Broward Children’s Center has been providing nonprofit education, medical, therapeutic, recreational and residential services to infants, children, and young adults who are at risk or have special needs. The private nonprofit accomplishes this through community support. BCC has been a TGI customer for over 15 years. We were glad to be able to show our support again this year with a sponsorship.
Starting at the Pompano Beach Elks Lodge, Walk participants circled the four-mile Pompano Beach Air Park trail and celebrated at the finish line. Breakfast, lunch, and goodie bags were provided to all attendees. TGI’s employees cheered on runners and walkers at the finish line!
One of the exciting parts of the day was when TGI’s Paul Franetovich and Jackie Anderson raffled off a television. We were pleasantly surprised as the winner of the TV donated it to Broward Children’s Center!
