Broward Childrens Center, in collaboration with several community partners, hosted its 17th Annual Miles for Smiles Walk With Courage fundraiser. This year the event was hosted virtually where participants set the date, time, and the course to walk, run, or bike.

Broward Children’s Center (BCC) provides medical, educational, recreational, therapeutic, daily living, and advocacy services to infants, children, young adults, and families with special healthcare needs. Since 1971, thousands of children with special needs and their families have benefited from Broward Children’s Center’s programs, including The Children’s Comprehensive Care Center (a pediatric skilled nursing facility), 3 Group Homes, 2 Schools, Respite Care, Medical Transportation, Speech/Language, Physical, and Occupational Therapies, Recreational Therapy, Home Health Care, Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). BCC is leading the way in therapeutic and community-integrated programming with the provision of resources and the use of adaptive technology. Because of this, our residents flourish and develop relationships with members of our local community and beyond.

MaryAnn Anastasia, BCC Volunteer Coordinator, said, “When you give, you breathe life into programs that matter to our local community. More than 85% of the residents served at Children’s Comprehensive Care Center and Broward Children’s Center Group Homes are unable to eat or breathe on their own. They rely on life-sustaining devices such as ventilators, feeding pumps, and other powered technology. When you give, the most vulnerable residents in our community feel the impact.”
